Our Origins

CHOOKS fresh & tasty was originally known as River Rooster and our first stores were in the Busselton and Margaret River area, where we commenced trading in 1991. Our early success was due to the quality of our cooking and this is a lesson we have never forgotten.

In order to meet the demands of people living near our stores, we have to continually demonstrate that we can provide them with ‘fresh and tasty' chicken.

As we gradually expanded into the metropolitan area, our research showed that customers in the suburbs around Perth also had a preference for the quality of our cooking methods, but our name was often confused with other fast food retailers. While our existing customers loved our products some new customers weren't coming to us because they mistakenly thought they had already tried our menu elsewhere.

The only realistic solution was to change our name and, after thinking about it, we chose a name that stated exactly what we offer and reflected our Australian heritage - CHOOKS fresh & tasty!
